Loretta Yvonne Roberts, 82, of Bim, WV died May 30, 2017 at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston after a short illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Everett Canada Roberts.
She was the daughter of the late Arcella Roberts, stepdad Taylor Roberts and father James Cooper. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Mona Roberts and Annette Green.
She is survived by her sisters, Francis Montoya of SC and Mitzi Adkins of AL; and brother, Douglass Roberts of WV. The Cooper side of the family are sisters, Ruth Watts, Cora Cooper and Roger Cooper. Deceased brothers, Jimmy , Elwood and Monty Cooper.
Loretta was born on January 26, 1935 and was a seven month preemie, weighing one and half pounds, who went on to do great things. She always liked a challenge, a wonderful mother of five children; Regina Gale and Robert deceased, Vaughn Roberts, Joyce Rene Ferrell and Roberta Jean Gibson.
A member of the Wharton Missionary Baptist Church, active with mission work, along with her husband Everett helped start a church at Peytona, WV. She helped law enforcement, was a member of the first Civil Air Patrol in Boone County. She manned a base station and aircraft monitor, a member of the Memorial of D.C. for fallen Law Enforcement. For years she loved sending snacks and treats to the State Police officers. She made many beautiful crafts for her seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Her best friends Jeanette and Diane were so kind to her and helped her get to church. She was a sidekick to Mark Elvis who took her on many exciting adventures and they became the best of friends.
Her family and friends take comfort knowing she is home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017 Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV with Mark Elvis and Gary Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison.
