Lorraine "Tootie" Spurlock

Lorraine “Tootie” Spurlock, 91, of Griffithsville, WV passed away Monday, January 22, 2013 at CAMC Teays Valley Hospital. She was born July 28, 1921 in Yawkey, WV, a daughter of the late Robert Harrison and Nannie Johnson Porter. She was also preceded in death by her husband Walter Froud Spurlock and two sisters, Ardith McCormick and Omal Valentine. She was a homemaker, Charter member of the Yawkey Methodist Church, member of the Womens Club of Hamlin for more than 60 years. She enjoyed doing handwork, reading and cooking for family and friends. Her kitchen was open just like her heart. She is survived by two sons, Ben G. (Iris) of Beckley, WV, and Thomas H. (Debbie) of Midland, Tx; a daughter, Rebecca S. Wiley of Huntington; grandsons, Craig(Carolyn), Barry(Buffy), Morgan and Matthew (Alison); great grandchildren, Kelsey, Caitlin Hulver(Richard), Austin, Bailey, Piper, Addison, Laken, Reese, Ryan; her other daughter, Sandy Linn and special friends Lou Ellen McClure and Sonya Stickler. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Sunday, January 28, 2013 at Yawkey Methodist Church with Butch Loftis, Dave Callison and Kim Matthews officiating. The burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery, Sweetland, WV. Friends may call from 5PM to 8PM Saturday at Handley Funeral Home, Hamlin, WV.
