Lurlen Leota Buckner

Lurlen Leota Buckner,89, of Six Mile Rd. Danville WV went home to be with the Lord on April 10, 2020 surrounded by her family.
Lurlen was born on July 6, 1930 the only child of Andrew and Mary Dempsey. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John Buckner, Jr; sons-in-law Gene Gomez and O.W. (Dickie) Jarrell; and a great-grandson Joshua Buckner.
Those left to cherish her memory are her 12 children, Beva Caines, Johnny and Kay Buckner, Ora Mae and Roger Miller, special son Billy Buckner, Lonnie Buckner, Lorean Jarrell, Gail Gomez, Lola and Gary Ellison, Eugene Buckner and Katrina Bryant, Jimmy and Jonna Buckner, Alice Asbury and John Hess, and Joey and Tonya Buckner; grandkids, Melissa Kirk, Jenny Eric and Chris Caines, Jay Jay Buckner, Angie Sizemore, Jamie Buckner, Randy, Roger Miller, Natalie Poe, Samantha Hartshorn, Kaela Vickers, Eddie, Michael, David Jarrell, Beth Scalf, Christina Roberts, Gina Gonzales, Teresa, Brandy Gomez, Mandi Epling, Whitney Sanchez, Sara Maynard, Morgan Kirby, Lexi Buckner, Cameron Asbury, Jessica Harrah, and Clarissa and Joseph Buckner; 43 great-grandkids, nine great-great grandkids; and very special friend David Green.
Numerous foster kids passed through mommy’s home. Some of those kids still remain in touch with mommy.
A special thank you to Freda Vanhorn for your love and friendship through the years, Kanawha Hospice Melanie and Brandy, loved one caregivers Jennifer Runion and Jennifer Workman.
Mommy always had a smile on her face even through the sickness these last few months. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. We love you mommy. Rest in Peace until we meet again.
Private family service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville with Ralph Caudill and Paul Little officiating. Burial will follow in Pauley Cemetery at Laurel. Private visitation for family only begins one hour prior to the service.
