Marcella Ann Brown Blake, 81, of Danville, WV formerly of Blair, WV passed this life to her Heavenly Home on December 28, 2021.
She was born February 6, 1940 to the late James R. Brown Sr. and Adelene Brown. Marcella was married to the love of her life Ronald Blake for 54 years until his passing. They were the parents of Teresa Ann Blake Cox. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one sister Nellie Warrer.
Marcella was a loving and devoted mother to Teresa Ann Blake Cox and grandmother to one grandson, Justin Blake Cox. She was blessed with three great grandchildren, Zae, Gunner and Zain whom she loved dearly. She also leaves behind one brother, James “Bob” Brown Jr.; sisters, Patricia Browning, Barbra Garner, Shirley Brown; many nephews and nieces; a special little girl, Sadie Ryan whom she loved dearly; and brother-in-law, Glen Garner whom she loved like a brother.
She will be greatly missed by family, friends and especially by her church family that she loved and worshiped God with.
She was a member of the Blair Church of God for 60 years, and also a minister during these years. She was also the pastor of Blair Church of God from 2013 until she departed this world. She taught Sunday School and was President of Ladies Ministry, and led Y.P.E. service and was a great choir leader. She loved going to church and said many times she had the best congregation to worship God with. She would rather be in church than anywhere. She loved to sing and play her guitar.
She loved spending time with her family, having cook outs and roasting marshmallows with her grandson Justin and his wife Brittany whom she loves so deeply. And her grandchildren that filled her heart with joy and love. She loved spending time with her daughter going shopping and eating out.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 31, 2021 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville with Jerry Browning officiating. Burial will follow in Boone Memorial Park, Madison.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
