Maria "Susan" Vance-Gilliam

Maria “Susan” Vance-Gilliam of Madison, WV passed away Tuesday, April 8th, 2025 at CAMC in Charleston, WV 

She was born November 28th, 1964, in Madison, WV to the late James Ray and Margaret Evelyn Vance.

Susan loved being with her husband and fur babies at home or on a new adventure. She loved her huge family and always enjoyed the times they spent together. Susan was an elementary school teacher for over 26 years and loved her kids like they were her own. She inspired so many to do their very best and always let them know how special they were. She was the sweetest and kindest person and could always make anyone feel good with that beautiful smile. Later in life she went back to college and became a pharmacist. She loved her life she loved her work family and church family. Susan loved serving her Lord and savior and is now in her eternal home in Heaven.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents James and Margaret; brother Donald Ray Vance; nephews Zachariah and Jeremiah Vance.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years Kevin Gilliam; sister Mary (Gene) Vance-Frame; brothers James (Candace) Vance, Paul (Kay) Vance, Johnny (Vonda) Vance, Doug (Karen) Vance, Larry (Mindy) Vance and Mark Vance; mother-in-law Midge Cregger; nephew/son James Logan Frame and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., April 19th, 2025 at Bible Baptist Church in Danville, WV. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
