Mark Layne Castle, 58, departed this life to be with Jesus on Tuesday, October 1st, 2024 after a short illness. Mark was a retired coal miner of 16 years and an avid drag racer who loved hanging out with his racing buddies. He also loved collecting and trading Hot Wheels with his dear friend Billy Brown Jr., as he and his brother Mike played with them as children.
He was preceded in death by his father Virgil Ray Castle, and nephew Andrew Myers.
Survived by his wife Melanie Castle of Van, his sons Logan Castle at home, and Dr. Mark Thomas Castle of Hawaii, daughter Cassidy (Gavin) Smith of Greenwood, mother Loretta Castle of Van, brother Mike (Charlotte) Castle of Van, sister Mitzi (Jimmy) Chuey of Lisbon, Ohio; grandchildren Griffin and Ada Jean Smith; nieces Jade Castle of Van, Destiny Nelson-Jarrell (Devon) of Van, Julia Chuey of East Liverpool, Ohio, and a host of cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with Rev. David Jarrell officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens on Low Gap Road, Madison, WV. Pallbearers will be his Rebel Racin' friends.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
