Mary Etta Elliott was born on November 10, 1947 at her home in Blair, WV to her parents Paul Edwin Kinney Sr. & Estelle Mae McCormick Kinney. She passed away Tuesday August 26, 2014 at her home in Danville, WV with family at her side.
She was preceded in death by both her parents and her loving husband Earl Elliott; one son Earl Bradford Elliott; a nephew Earl Wesley Allen; one grandson Mitchell Derek DeSonier; two sisters Jennie Carolyn Boytek & Kleta Kay Kinney Allen; and many brother & sister in-laws.
She is survived by her son Thomas W. Elliott of Danville WV; one daughter Melony Dawn Elliott DeSonier ; a very special brother for whom she raised James David Kinney of Clothier WV; two brothers Paul E. “Pete” Kinney of Blair WV and Michael E. Kinney of Biloxi MS. She was blessed with many grandkids and great grandkids. She shared her life with many of her nieces & nephews, which she loved very much.
She received a bachelor Degree in Social work from Bluefield state college. Mary Etta was the Director of the American Red Cross of Logan, WV for 30 years. She also raised monies for & served as the Director of the United Way of Logan county & Logan County community fund, Inc. She served on the board of directors as the secretary for 38 years for the Logan County Ambulance Service (LEASA). She is one of two in Logan to ever receive the Clara Barton Award for the American Red Cross. She was the first female president in history to serve as a member over the Logan county Kiwanis Club.
Graveside services for her family & friends will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill.
