Mary Mae Nester

Mary Mae Nester, 91, of Culloden, WV formerly of Quinland went home to be with the Lord on February 14, 2016. She was born December 6, 1924 in Asco, Wyoming County, WV and was a daughter of the late Frank and Lear Lester Rose. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. John E. Nester; daughter, Mary Avis Nester Bryant; and son-in-law, Robert “Smitty” Smith.

Mrs. Nester and her husband were married on December 4, 1946 in Pineville, WV and pastored churches in Raleigh, Logan, Greenbrier and Boone Counties during their lifetimes.

She is survived by son, John E. Nester II (Kathy) of Quinland, WV; daughters, Alechia Carolyn Spring (Harry) of Louisville, KY and Deborah L. Smith of Hurricane, WV; brother, Leonard Rose Sr. of Fanrock, WV; sister, Juanita Roberts of Fanrock, WV; five grandchildren, April Dawn Gurley, Melanie Beebe, Cybill Smith, Rachel Howard and John S. Nester; and six great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 17 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Greg Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Boone Memorial Park, Madison.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
