Maxine Sansom Bias

Maxine Sansom Bias, of Hamlin, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2020. She was born August 10, 1922, in Hamlin, W.Va., daughter of the late Ollie Ethel Baker Sansom and Lee Sansom. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Forrest C Bias.

She is survived by her two sons Lewis and daughter-in-law Elizabeth “Betsy” Bias and Larry and daughter-in-law Robin. She was blessed with three grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

She was a long time friend of the Hamlin Methodist Church (formerly Trinity United Methodist Church) and life long member and past Matron of the Hamlin Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 106.

She lived a long 98 years mostly in Hamlin with the last 10 years in Florida with her son Lewis and Betsy. She loved to read her Bible and books right up until the last five months of her life.

Her request upon death is as follows: “I would like to be taken directly to the cemetery and have a scripture reading and prayer before interment. I have been away for several years and out lived most of my friends so the minister will be relieved for making any marginal comments about me!”

Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park, Hamlin, W.Va.
