Maxwell Wayne Bender, 82, of Foster was born September 23, 1932 and went home to be with the Lord after a long illness on Tuesday, November 4, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Page and Annie Bender; his brothers, Edwin Bender, Ronald Bender, Donald Bender and Junior Bender; his sisters, Lydia Phillips Haas and Louise Porter; his brother-in-law, Doug Haas; and his sisters-in-law, Lucinda Bender and Norma Bender; one nephew, Todd Bender; and one great-niece, Amanda Harless.
Mac was a very hard working man his entire life. He worked hard with his dad and brothers in the junk business, raising tobacco, logging and he spent many of his days in the garden. One of Mac’s favorite things to do was to sit on the porch and rock his nieces and nephews. He was a loving son, a caring brother, a giving uncle and a friend to so many. He loved hunting with his brothers and visiting with all their families. He had a smile for everyone and a laugh that will always be remembered. Mac had nicknames for pretty much all the family and big stories to always tell. He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
Mac leaves behind brothers, Clarence and Clara Bender of Foster, Bob and Gloria Bender of Big Ugly, Kermit and Sherry Bender of Big Ugly and Vernon and Donna Bender of Foster. He also leaves behind one brother-in-law, Ronald Porter of West Hamlin; two sisters-in-law, Billie Bender of Prenter and Diana Bender of Lick Creek; and a host of family and friends.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2014 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville. Burial will follow in Family Gardens, Madison.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
