Mickey G. Jefferson born in Madison, WV, gained his wings and lost his pain on April 30, 2019 at Charleston Memorial Hospital. Mickey was preceded in death by his grandparents Samuel and Ethal
Canterbury, and mother Staci (Canterbury) Jefferson. Mickey is survived by his loving wife of 39 years as of April 5, 2019 Martha Jefferson of Madison; his two daughters, Summer Medina (Thomas) of Madison, and Stacie Walls (Chris) of Hewett. Mickey is also survived by his 5 grandchildren who placed no one above their papaw, Patrick and Tyler Walls of Hewett, Destiny Moore, Desiree Jefferson and Deshante Jefferson of Madison, nieces, nephews and many cousins.
Mickey was a retired disabled coal miner who loved the outdoors along with camping at his campsite at Pipestem, and he loved watching baseball on any level. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church of Danville. He spent much of time umpiring baseball games throughout the county at different levels. Mickey loved his Cubies, Bears, and Bulls and was one the biggest fans of SkyHawk Baseball.
Mickey never met a stranger and was willing to help anyone that needed anything. Mickey will always be remembered as not only the greatest daddy to his girls, but the best papaw to all five of his grandchildren. He will be truly be missed by all.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Handley Funeral Home, with Rev. John Barker officiating. Family may visit 12-1:00 p.m. Friends may visit 1-2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Family Memorial Gardens, Low Gap WV
