Myrtle Florence Shannon

Myrtle Florence Midkiff Shannon, 79, of Branchland, WV died Thursday October 23, 2014 at Lincoln Nursing and Rehab. She was born April 28, 1935 a daughter of the late Ellis Spencer and Elva Hargis Midkiff.

Myrtle is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Eugene Shannon of 35 years; two brothers, Stewart Midkiff, and Billy Midkiff; two sisters, Roberta Gore, and Phyllis "Doogie" Jewell. She was a retired inspector for Stewart-Warner Corp in Chicago, IL. She was a member of the Westside Family Worship Center in Jacksonville, FL and attended Independence Baptist Church in Hamlin, and Lincoln Baptist Church in Pleasant View.

She is survived by one daughter, Pamela S. Stanley (Dean); two grandchildren, Rachel and Travis; a special great niece, Kaylin; and a special great nephew, Ayden; four brothers, Jimmy D. Midkiff, Tom (Nancy) Midkiff, Richard (Emma) Midkiff, Johnny (Donna) Midkiff; two sisters, Jean Williams, and Julia (Jim) Porter; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Sunday October 26, 2014 at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, with Timmy Davis and Tim Pauley officiating. Burial will follow at Franklin Cemetery, Branchland. Viewing will be one hour prior to service on Sunday.
