Nancy Ellen "Barker" Gunnoe
November 8, 1940 — February 25, 2015
Nancy Ellen “Barker” Gunnoe,74, of Costa, WV passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday Feb. 25, 2015 at her home peacefully surrounded by family.
She grew up in Ridgeview along side of her lifelong friend Carol “Bowles” Starling.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Edward “Doe” Gunnoe, her parents; T. R and Dora Jane Barker, her siblings; Maywood Barker, Kenneth Barker, Russell Barker, Charles Barker, Pauline Barker and Genevieve Hanshaw and her beloved poodle Sprout.
She is survived by her children Stan Gunnoe, James “Butch” Gunnoe, and Janie “Gunnoe” Adkins, Glen Facemyer who was like a special son to her, grandchildren; Sandra Dawn Kinder, Cody Adkins, and Zoey Weymes, great grandchildren; Eryka and Conner Kinder, two special nieces/caregivers Lou Estep and Trish Mooney and nephew Roger Barker, many nieces, nephews and her faithful beagle “T”.
Nancy was the type of person that never met a stranger and helped out along the way. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
The family request in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the David Lee Cancer Center, Charleston, WV, American Heart Association or Hospice Care.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV with Rev. J. R. Mooney officiating. Burial will follow in Kinder Cemetery, Costa, WV.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
