Nelda M. Spratt, 87, of Danville, WV passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 6th, 2022. Born October 1, 1934, in Wharton, she was a daughter of the late Ovie C. and Mary V. Mitchell.
In addition to her parents, Nelda was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Charles L. “Andy” Spratt; as well as her sister Joyce Tapley.
Nelda graduated from Van High School in 1952 and lived in faraway places such as Japan and England, before relocating to Danville following Andy’s retirement. She attended Madison United Methodist Church where she was a longtime member of the Alleluia Choir, as well as dedicating her time to volunteer as a “Pink Lady” with the Women’s Auxiliary of Boone Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by her sister Ginger Mitchell of Gordon; two daughters, Lue Anne Horton, of Danville, and Andrea “Mickie” Fink and her husband Pat, of Laurel, Maryland; her son Charles, of Pasadena, Maryland; grandchildren, Lauren Roeder and her Husband Mark of Lexington, Virginia; Christopher Fink and his wife Chris of Laurel, Maryland, Jillian Horton of Danville, Kayde Sharp of Lewisburg, and CJ Spratt of Eastman, Georgia; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Service will be on Friday, September 9th, 2022, at 11 am at Handley Funeral Home in Danville with Rev. Nathan Epling officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens in Madison immediately following the service.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
