Norman Andrew Buckner, 80, of Danville, WV, passed away February 25, 2023. He was born August 1, 1942 at home in Skincreek, WV, to the late Brookie (Perry) Buckner and the late Sherman Buckner. He was preceded in death by his son Norman Eugene Buckner and his siblings; Naaman, Naomi, Nellie, Norwood, Nelson, Ned, Nancy, and Norris.

 

He is survived by his siblings, Norvell Buckner of Summersville, WV, Nina Smith of Danville, Norman Jean Bentley and Nan Jarrell both of Madison; children, Randy and Sherry of Danville, Rex and Terri of Uneeda, Rhonda and Frank (Bub) Allen III of Red House, Betty-Jo and D.J. May of Madison, and Regina Lilly of Midway, WV. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Andrew and Rebekah Buckner of Charleston, WV, Eric and Melissa Buckner of Bruceton Mills, WV, Cody and Heather Buckner of Wharton, WV, Justin Buckner, Shawn Buckner, and Brittany Buckner all of Uneeda, Cole and Lauran Buckner of Danville, Hunter Allen and Haley Allen of Red House, WV, Randi Lynn Buckner of Danville, Jessie May and Desiree May of Madison, Cecil William Lilly and Corbin Lilly of Midway. He also has great grandchildren that survive him, Casen Buckner and Jacelyn Buckner both of Wharton, Olivia Buckner of Bruceton Mills, Charlotte Buckner of Uneeda, Adeline Buckner of Danville, and another bundle of joy coming in July that he was anxious to meet, Audrey Buckner.

 

Norman worked road construction with heavy equipment, and he was an underground coal miner. He was a member and deacon at Toler Baptist Church in Wyoming County until he moved to Madison. Norman had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed gardening, cutting grass, working in flowerbeds, and building birdhouses and squirrel feeders so he could feed them all. He enjoyed cooking, watching westerns, and the news, but his greatest love was for his family. He loved spending time with them all. He was proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved each and every one of them and treasured every moment he had with them. He will be greatly missed by everyone that loved him. He leaves behind his tremendous love that has touched all of us, along with many wonderful memories which will live on for generations to come.

 

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2023 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV with Roland Cook, officiating. Burial will follow in Jasper Workman Cemetery at Bald Knob, WV. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
