Norman “Tom” McComas 77 of Nellis passed away on March 7, 2019 at CAMC General after a short illness.
He was a 1959 graduate of Sherman High School and an Army veteran. He retired from Dupont Belle Plant with 28 years of service as a welder and foreman. He was a first degree black belt in Shaolin-Do (kung fu) earning said belt in the year 2000 at the age of 59.
He was an avid fan of the NHRA drag racing series having attended multiple events since 1967 and a Boston Red Sox fan for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Virginia McComas and his sisters Janice Elkins and Rose Matheny.
Survivors include his loving wife Judy Bowles McComas of Nellis, son Scott (Rose) McComas of Belle, daughter Gina (Jonah) Grounds of Powellton, grandchildren, Kassie Durham of Belle, Cory McComas of Tornado, Shannon McComas,of Tornado, Bethany Shope of Powellton, and Andelyn McComas, of Belle. He is also survived by his siblings, Judy Charcandy, Joyce Leshon, Jean Graley, June Gurski, Joan Fizer, and Freddie McComas.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2019 Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV with Mike Graley officiating. Burial will follow in Kinder Cemetery, Costa, WV.
