Obert Parsons

Obert Parsons, 82, of Foster, WV was born May 26, 1930 in Lincoln County and died March 8, 2013 in Hurricane after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was a son of the late Charles and Salota Adkins Parsons. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae Miller Parsons; brothers, Denver Parsons, Coval Parsons, Cleman Parsons and Elmer Parsons; and sister, Novella Adkins.
He is survived by daughters, Nola (Robert) Clark of Crossville,TN, Wanda Marks of Hurricane and Rose (Dale) Harrison of Gilbert; brothers, Pedro Parsons of Madison and Oather Parsons of Marmet; special nephew, Harold Adkins of Charleston, IL; grandsons, Michael Cook of Foster, Cory Clark of Crossville, TN and Todd Schreckengost of Wheeling; six step-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren.
He served in the Korean War and retired from Cabot Oil and Gas Corporation.
Obert was a very active member of his community as he was a volunteer local forest ranger, 4-H leader and 4-H All Stars, Life Member and Past president of PTA, Past President Boone County Fair Board, Scout Master of Foster BSA. He served on multiple committees and boards during his life, member of American Legion Post, Life member VFW, American Chestnut Association and Boone County Master Gardeners Club. He had a love for sharing his knowledge of gardening, always enjoyed fishing the Greenbrier River, Coon hunting and spending time with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Boone County 4-H Leaders Association or Boone County Master Gardening Club.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 11 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Kevin Trivette officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Park, Danville.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
