Okey Roberts, 92, of Madison was born June 26, 1921 and went home to be with the Lord on February 16, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Armilda Roberts and his wife, Ella Hazel Walls Roberts.
He was a retired coal miner from Westmoreland Coal Company and a member of UMWA. He was a WWII Army veteran and a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Patty Carpenter of Big Ugly; granddaughters, Aleah Carpenter of Big Ugly and Angelina Williams of Cross Lanes; grandson, Isaac Anthony Carpenter III of Raleigh, NC; and great-granddaughter, Rebekkah Brown of Huntington.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Ray Barker officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Park, Danville with military graveside rites performed by Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578, Madison, WV.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
