Oswald Lovejoy 78, of West Hamlin, WV, passed away Wednesday June 11, 2014 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born October 25, 1935 a son of the late Robert and Thelma Adkins Lovejoy. He was also preceded in death by sons Alvin "Dale" and Brian Kent Lovejoy; a granddaughter Shelley Dawn Lovejoy; brothers, Robert (Brother), Dallas, Ottie, and Dewayne Lovejoy; and sister, Anita (Lovejoy) Hale. He was a machine operator for Highway Paving for 44 years. He was a member of Operating Engineers, Cement Masons Local 526 and a member of Eden Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Maxine (Stowers) Lovejoy; daughters, Rita Lovejoy of Charleston, Rhonda Weaver (David) of Greenville, SC, and Michelle Sizemore (Joey) of Branchland; one son Timothy Lovejoy (Marsha) of Alkol; 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; two brothers, Kenny Lovejoy (Carol), Everett Lovejoy (Linda); seven sisters, Nola Tabor (Kenny), Minnie Bias (Glen), Hazel Young, Nyoka James (Jim), Dovetta Harless (Roger), Teresa Cummings, and Gail Turley (Steve); and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday June 14, 2014 at Handley Funeral Home, Hamlin, WV with Kim Matthews officiating. Burial will follow at Lovejoy Cemetery, Salt Rock, WV. Viewing will be one hour prior to service on Saturday.
