Patricia Jane Harper

Patricia Jane Harper, 64, of Danville went to be with the Lord on October 10, 2015 following a courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Leona Gothard Stewart of Barboursville.

Patricia was a graduate of Barboursville High School and completed her bachelor's and master's degrees from Marshall University. After more than 30 years of service she retired as a school teacher from Boone County Schools and was a faithful, active member of Bible Baptist Church.

.Patricia leaves her husband of 43 years, Kim Harper; daughter, Kristi Setser of Madison; sons, Stewart Harper (Kandace) of Chapmanville and Kevin Harper (Kortni) of Madison. Other survivors include her sister, Cecilia Scarbro (Ronald) of Athens, WV; seven grandchildren, Amelia, Wade and Isaac Setser of Madison, Kyndall, Kelsey and Keatyn Harper of Madison and Mavric Harper of Chapmanville; and many beloved nieces, nephews and countless “adopted” sons and daughters.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 13th at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Pastor Johnny Barker and Trooper Richard Jarrell, Chaplain of Virginia State Police officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Park, Danville. Pall bearers will be sons, Stewart Harper, Kevin Harper, Jason Scarbro, Andy “Tank” Scarbro, Jimmy Cole and Brian Dotson.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
