Patsy Belle Wiley

January 11, 1928 — June 21, 2018

Patsy Belle Wiley, 90, of Madison, WV passed away June 21, 2018, surrounded by friends and family. She was born January 11, 1928, the daughter of the late Jake D. Price and Erna M. Price. Patsy was also preceded in death by her husband Patrick H. Wiley; brothers Jake D. Price Jr. and Charles F. Price; and sister Sue C. Webb.

Her love for Christ and her church, Madison Baptist Church, that she was a member for over 75 years made her who she is. She loved. That’s it, Patsy loved life, people and most of all family. She would say on more than one occasion, “It costs nothing to be kind and smile.”

Patsy is survived by son, Patrick Michael Wiley; granddaughter, MaryAnn Wiley Kuhn; and two great-grandsons. Her other survivors consist of many friends and family that loved her so much. Her friends showered Patsy with their love, with cards, visits and calls to brighten her time she had left and she was in awe of their love.

Patsy was an avid Tennis player and very good at it. She played till the age of 80 and only stopped then due to her hips giving out. She played with a great group of ladies and they would all travel to Kanawha City to play as well and Patsy enjoyed all of them so much. While in hospital and Hospice you would find her TV turned to the Tennis Channel. She loved the young people that played down the street from her and would go and watch when she could before illness struck. She loved her Tennis girls group!

The Domino Ladies were her next group of ladies she hung out with. They are a group of friends that Patsy brought together over 25 years ago to play dominos and catch up with each other and talk about current events. They are friends through thick and thin and they are rich in history, knowledge, compassion and most of all they all loved each other so much.

Patsy was a Home Economics Teacher. She began her career teaching basic school in 1948 at Julian grade but through the years she worked at Van High School and has many fond memories and friends. She then went on to Scott High School in Madison, WV then to the Vocational School where the Pre School program began. She loved the little ones that she taught and they all loved her. Ms. Patsy is what she was known as to her little ones. She retired in 1986 from Madison Grade Preschool.

We would like to thank all that visited and sent cards to her. They so brightened her days. Her zest for life was contagious and all that met Patsy loved her.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Madison Baptist Church Preschool Fund.
