Paul V."Skip" Hawkins, Jr.

Paul Vinson “Skip” Hawkins, Jr. of Comfort, WV died Monday at home after a long illness of cancer.
He was retired from Peabody Coal, a member of the UMWA, and served in the U. S. Navy. He was a 1964 graduate of Sherman High School, Seth, WV.
His favorite past time was fishing, hunting, and camping. He also enjoyed raising a garden and giving family and friends the fruits and vegetables of his labor.
He fought a long hard fight and remained strong and positive until the end. He was quick to take your hand when someone entered his room and instructed each person not to cry. He had given his life to the Lord and told family tht he was ready to meet his savior.
He leaves behind many friends having lived most of his adult life in Boone County.
Those left to cherish his memory included his wife; Nancy, of Comfort and his sons; Michael and Matthew of Comfort. The light of his life was his granddaughter Zoey, who his had raised. He leaves behind two sisters; Nancy Hawkins of Orgas and Kathy (Gary) Cash of Madison, also brothers; Samuel (Patty) of Seth and Jason (Danielle) of Orgas, his sister in law Emogene Hawkins of Whitesville. He is very proud of his grandchildren; Lance and Amberly of NC and Chase of Clearfork. He had a host of nieces and nephews who meant the world to him.
He enjoyed the friendship of his extended family, including sisters in law, brothers in law and all of his cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Vinson, Sr. and Mary Protan Hawkins, his son Paul Vinson III and a brother Daniel Edward.
Rest in peace our dear husband, Dad, brother in law, cousin and friend. You will be missed!!
A memorial service will be 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014 Racine Community Center, Racine Park, with Eugene Spurlock officiating. Friends may call at 7 p.m.
