Pedro Parsons 84, of Madison, passed away on February 1, 2017.
He was born March 23, 1932 to the late Charley and Salota Parsons. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Denver, Clemon, Coval, Elmer, Obert Parsons and one sister, Novella Adkins, and two daughters, Beverly Parsons Hale and Sally Ann Sparks.
Mr. Parsons was a retired coal miner, who gave 30 years of service to the coal mining industry. He was a member of the Rock Creek Church of Christ for more than 70 years.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Geraldine Miller Parsons of 65 years, sons, Kevin (Teresa) Parsons and Donald Walker; daughters, Cindy Watkins and Deanna (Harold H. “Kip” ) Howell; grandchildren, Chris Price, Amie Lynn Lee of AZ, Brandon, Adam and Marcus Sparks, TX, Eric Hale, Todd Hale, TN, Travis Parsons, TX, Harold “Harry” and Meredith Howell, Alex and Austin Parsons, Seth Hess, FL; 11 great grandchildren and a host of other children who lovingly referred to him as Papaw Pedro, a brother, Oather Parsons and nephew Harold Atkins.
Mr. Parsons was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a Christian man with a kind heart and soul. He never met a stranger and was a friend to all. Always willing to lend a hand and show everyone he had a heart of gold. He was a hard working man that enjoyed all his fellow workers. He loved the outdoors and sports. He had a passion for the mountains and wildlife. His greatest joys were his family and grandchildren. He loved his church family and enjoyed their fellowship and visits. He will be greatly missed by many.
Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017 Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Minister Gary Durham officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens at Low Gap, WV.
Visitation will be 12:30 to 2:30 same day as service.
