Ralph “Ray” Jarrell, Jr., 89, of Bim, WV went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Boone Memorial Hospital. He was born August 29, 1925 in Boone County, WV and was a son of the late Ralph Ray and Esperance Sutphin Jarrell, Sr. Also preceding him in death was his loving wife of 56 years and mother of his children, Lillian Patrick Jarrell, his second wife, Macie Woodie Jarrell; two brothers, Ellis (Chubby) Jarrell (Mildred) and Jess Elkins (Vinie); sister, Dorothy King (Redmond); daughter-in-law, Linda George Jarrell; step-grandchild, Levi Peterson; and brothers-in-law, Allen Burdette, Eli Adkins, Frank Lett and Leroy Adkins.
Ray was a retired coal miner of Armco and a devout Christian, Deacon and member of Bim Freewill Baptist Church serving as a testament for the Lord for over 40 years. He was also a member of UMWA and a proud lifetime member of the Boone IOOF Lodge 170 of Madison, WV.
He is survived by his loving sons, Dennis (Becky) Jarrell of Twilight where he was lovingly cared for during his final months of life, and Ellis Jarrell of Sevierville, TN; step-children, Larry (Nada) Woodie of Foster, Jerry (Sherry) Woodie of Bob White and Linda (Bill) Persinger of Danville; brother, Reverand Roy (Alma) Jarrell of Cross Lanes; sisters, Lavelet Adkins of Buffalo, Zelma Adkins of Bob White, Rosa Lett of Culloden, Loretta Burdette of Nitro and Nelda (Victor) Keathly of Nitro. He is also survived by his loving granddaughter, Angela (Tony and great-grandsons, Corey and Connor) Harvey of Waxhaw, NC; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends. Also, special neighbors and friends Denita and Mark Miller.

Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2014 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Steve Burns officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison.
Visitation is one hour prior to the service.
