Raymond Ray Duffey, 73, of Uneeda went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 26, 2013.
He was born February 16, 1940 and was a son of the late Grayson Duffey and Nellie Kelley. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Richard Duffey; and grandson, Stephen Ray Duffey.
He is survived by one brother, Jimmy Duffey; and two sisters, Charlotte Michau and Debbie Craddock. He also leaves behind six children, Rochelle “Lana” Barker and husband, Michael, Cary Duffey, Gregory Duffey, Timothy Duffey and wife Debbie, Susan Trammell and husband, Kevin and Rebecca Darnell and husband Richard; ten grandchildren, David Barker and wife Karrie, Jennifer Simpson and husband, Stan, Kirsten Duffey, Chelsea Duffey, Abby Duffey, Sami Jo Duffey, Lexi Trammell, Keely Darnell, Dylan Duffey and Keira Darnell; and five great-grandchildren, A.J. Campbell, Ethan Barker, Carson Simpson, Brady Simpson and Isabella Simpson.
Raymond was a veteran of the US Army that served as Special Forces. He was a retired UMWA worker and was also a member of Spencer Methodist Church of Hewett and had recently given his heart back to the Lord.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville with the Rev. Roger McCauley officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison with military graveside rites performed by Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578 Madison, WV.
