Raymond David Halstead, 68, of Ridgeview went home to be with the God he faithfully served for more than 30 years, Thursday, April 12, 2018 after a long illness.
He was the Pastor of the Morning Star House of Prayer at Ridgeview, a 36 year veteran of the coal mines, a dedicated member of the UMWA, a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, Pastor and friend. He was a 1969 graduate of Sherman High School.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Opal Perdue Halstead of Drawdy; his sisters, Janet, June and Wanda; and a brother, Jimmy.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Elkins Adkins Halstead; sons, David Ray and fiancé Carla Kirk of Bridgeport, WV and Michael Paul Adkins of Savannah, Georgia; daughters, Vicky Hill and husband Norman of Danville, WV, Carolyn Kirk of Kenna, and Lesley Adkins Ross of Ridgeview; three granddaughters, Tiffany Noe (Jerry) of Foster, Summer Miller (Wes) of Danville, and Krista Baldwin (Justin) of Danville; five grandsons, Jacob Ross, Luke Ross, Norman Hill III, Chris Hensley, and David Hensley; five great-grandsons, Isaac, Elijah, and Ezra Miller and Nathaniel and Landen Noe, and one on the way; brothers, Hershell of Drawdy, Danny of Duck, WV, Dick and Bruce both of Drawdy; sisters, Annie Cox of Nellis, Mary Williams (Jackie) of North Carolina, and Kathy Bowling (Junior) of Ripley.
The family would like to thank the staff of Pulmonary Associates of South Charleston, WV and the caring and dedicated nursing staff at CAMC’s SICU, CPICU and SV/IMC for going above and beyond.
Service will be 11 a.m. Sunday, April 15 at Morning Star House of Prayer at Ridgeview with Steve Cox and Joe Easter officiating. Burial will follow in Harless Cemetery, Drawdy.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
