Relda Francis Covert (Felty), 90, was born in Hernshaw, West Virginia on November 29, 1925. She was the daughter Mary Clark and Elmer Felty. Relda entered Heaven’s gates on August 14, 2015.
A wonderful mother and homemaker, Relda loved being at home surrounded by family and friends. She was known by her grandchildren as “Momaw Booboo.” She enjoyed shopping, going out to eat at Red Lobster, watching the deer in her yard, and going on family trips. Relda also enjoyed canning and making jelly. Relda had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of the West Madison church for over 15 years, but she continued to study her faith and serve the Lord at home.
Relda was predeceased by her loving husband of 72 years, Fred H. Covert. She was also predeceased by her parents, Mary Clark and Elmer Felty, her son Freddie Joe Covert, her sister Ulamae Stirgle, and her brothers Raymond Felty, Louis Felty, and Clarence Felty.
Relda is survived by her son, Frelin James Covert; and her three daughters, Flora June Parks, Fonda Jeanette Keyser, and Freda Jean Russell. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Sunday, August 16 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Ronnie Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Family Gardens, Madison.
