Richard L. Midkiff, 90, son of the late Elmer and Elizabeth Midkiff, born on February 20, 1934 in Lincoln County, WV passed away peacefully into the hands of the Lord on June 12, 2024.
Richard served as a BT3 in the US Navy on the USS Saufley EDDE 465 from 1953-1957. He retired from Chemical Leaman Tanklines Teamsters Local 175. Richard received his 50-year Masonic pin from Hamlin Masonic Lodge No. 79. He lived a full life with love and dedication to his wife Betty of 63 years and their cherished family.
Richard is survived by his wife, Betty Midkiff; two sons, Jeff (Lisa) Midkiff of West Hamlin, Alan (Jan) Midkiff of Kenova; grandchildren; Jenna (Travis) Townsend, Ty (Alyson) Midkiff, Lake (Shelby) Midkiff, Alley (Jarred) Baker, Keaton Perdue; and two great-grandchildren, Tripp Baker and another arriving in December; and two brothers, Harvey and Jerry.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father Elizabeth and Elmer Midkiff and eight siblings, Hampton, Glen, David, Glenna, Sarah, Violet, Roma, and Beatrice.
Many thanks to the staff at the Sanctuary of Ohio Valley and Hospice of Huntington for compassionate care. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday June 16, 2024, at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, WV with his great-nephew, Rodney Linville, officiating. The burial will follow in the Gill Cemetery, Salt Rock, WV. A visitation will be one hour prior to services on Sunday.
