Richard Wayne Parsons

Richard Wayne Parsons, 65, of Foster, WV, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024.

Richard, better known as Wayne, had a remarkable career that spanned numerous industries, including retail, auto sales, insurance, and fitness sales management. Richard was a business owner, successfully managing greenhouses and floral shops. Richard's skills extended beyond sales, including landscaping contracting, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work. 

In addition to his many talents, Wayne found passion in the tending and nurturing of birds and other animals. His love for nature was evident in his gardening and landscaping endeavors, where he demonstrated extraordinary creativity and vision. Beyond his professional life, he was a vibrant participant in local organizations, particularly as a member of 4-H, where he took on various roles including membership in the 4-H Charter and the 4-H All-Stars. He competed in state competitions, showcasing his talents in horticulture and visual presentations. He also represented Boone County as a member of the Boone County Square Dance team. In 1975, he served as a dance ambassador to the Netherlands during their 600-year celebration as a nation. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Reva Parsons; grandparents, Charlie and Salota Parsons and Clario and Gladyce Keffer.

Those left to cherish Wayne’s memory are his brothers, Anthony Lee Parsons of Foster, WV, Phillip Ray Parsons of Drawdy, WV, and Elmer Michael Parsons of Foster, WV; nieces and nephews, Lindsey Sumpter (Hunter) of Fort Pierce, FL, Harrison Parsons of Foster, WV, Cassandra Kimbler (Jeremy) of Drawdy, WV, Cameron Parsons (Kasey) of Hurricane, WV, Marissa Turley of Cross Lanes, WV, Eric Pauley (Kaylla) of Six Mile, WV, and Erica Adkins (Danvel) of Foster, WV. Wayne also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Danville Church of Christ in Danville, WV with Johnny Steele officiating.
