Richard Alden Wells

Richard Alden Wells, age 82, of Branchland, WV passed away after a short illness on September 20, 2106.

He was a resident of Lincoln Nursing & Rehabilitation at Hamlin, WV.

Richard was born at Blair, WV the son of coal miner, the late Edgar Wells and wife Ova (Ellis) Wells. He was married for 55 years to the late Mary Ruth (Anderson) Wells of Branchland, WV.
Richard lived most of his life at Blair, WV where he was an Accountant and Office Manager for Boone County Coal Corp for over 20 years, before becoming an underground miner for Westmoreland Coal, then later retiring at Jim C. Hamer Lumber Co. He moved to Branchland in 1993.

He is survived by two sons, John Wells and life companion Alice Smoot of Branchland, and Daniel and his wife Paula Wells of Sissonville, WV. Richard is also survived by two grandchildren, Michael A. Wells of Branchland, and Ashley N. (Wells) Frye and husband M.J. Frye, and two great grandchildren, Johnna and Jaxon Frye of Chapmanville, WV. Richard is also survived by one brother, William and Nancy Wells of Barboursville, WV.

Funeral service will be 12:00 PM Saturday September 24, 2016 at Handley Funeral Home, Hamlin, WV with Lonnie Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service on Saturday.
