Richard Lee Wills, our beloved husband, Dad and “Pops” died Friday, December 13, 2013 at his residence after a long time illness.
Richard was born on September 30, 1937 at Van, WV. He lived at Van and was a member of the Gospel Center Tabernacle, West Madison. He was a retired Boone County Deputy. He started with the sheriff’s department in 1978 and retired in 1993. He also served in the United State Marine Corps from October 1, 1954 to September 30, 1957. He was discharged as a sergeant.
Preceding in him death were his parents, James Quinton and Mary Adair Pauley Wills; two brothers, Robert C. Wills and James Quinton Wills, Jr.
Surviving him is his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth Marie Stricklen Wills; three sons, Craig R. of Van, WV, Brian and his wife Myra of Mt. Airy, NC and Bruce and his wife Sherrie of Danville, WV; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Holly Wills of Dunbar, Maxwell and his wife Geneva of Conway, NC, Charles and his wife Margaret of Wilmington, NC and William and his wife, Sue of Indianapolis, IN; two sisters, Clara and her husband Lawrence Milam of Leesburg, Fla. and Ruth Wills Christie of Greenwood, IN; several nieces and nephews, Hannah, Wyatt and Jesse Ball of Sod, WV who became a part of our family in 2003. Pops loved them very much.
His body will be cremated according to his wishes. A memorial will be announced at a later date.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Walter Gore officiating.
