Rinda Elaine Price was born May 31, 1929, to the late Edgar Joseph Price, Sr. and Nellie Gray Price.
She passed away peacefully in Ashburn, VA, on December 11, 2024, at the age of ninety-five after a courageous fight with dementia.
Her biggest love was caring for her family and others. These acts of service extended to family and throughout her community. If someone were sick or in need, Rinda would come quickly to assist. She enjoyed working on her flowers, baking, and perfecting the homemade recipes she learned as a young girl. After her children were older, she also worked as a cook in the Boone County Schools and as a home health aide for Boone County.
Rinda was educated in Boone County Schools, graduating from Carver High School in 1947. She was married to the late Carl Edward Price in 1950 and had five children from this union. She was a proud and productive resident of Madison until her health declined, making it necessary to be closer to her daughters.
She joined St. Paul A.M.E. at an early age, where she was active as a steward and in the Missionary Society. After St. Paul’s closing, she regularly attended and fellowshipped with Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband of 37 years, she was also preceded in death by her 9 siblings and her oldest son, Edward Eugene Price. Left to cherish her memory are two sons: Leslie Price of Madison, WV, and Warren Price (Sandra) of Cross Lanes, WV; and two daughters, Marion P. Campbell (Edward, Jr.) of Ashburn, VA, and Marzetta Hamilton (Gregory) of Manassas, VA. She also leaves twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren who would light up her world every time they entered the room.
Our mother cleaved to her nieces and nephews, being the last survivor of nine siblings. She spent many hours enjoying their company on her front porch or on phone calls. She especially looked forward to visits from her nephew Randall to watch their favorite game shows.
There are no amount of words to express the legacy that she has left behind.
She was blessed with ninety-five years and left a footprint in our hearts and the lives she touched.
