Rita Mae Church (Boothe), 78, departed this life on January 24, 2023, at CAMC General Hospital in Charleston, WV.

 

She was born on May 20, 1944, in Logan the daughter of William and Mary (Green) Boothe.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ralph and Roger Boothe, sister Rosemary Boothe McCray, husband William “Bill” Church and son Bill Church and nephew Jim Booth and many other nieces and nephews.

 

Rita was a 1962 Scott High School graduate and a 1968 graduate from Morris Harvey college and 1972 graduate from Marshall University with her master’s in teaching. Rita was one of the sweetest, loving and most caring people you could have ever met. She was one of the biggest animal lovers. If you knew Rita, you knew you had a friend you could count on. Rita was a social studies teacher for Boone County Schools from 1969-1999 and continued to sub for many years after. She loved educating the young minds about history and giving everyone greater perspectives of the past. She was a devoted member of the West Madison Baptist Church and apart of the Women’s Circle and TNT Senior Group.

 

Those left to cherish her memory include her brother Dale Boothe of Rock Creek, nieces Wendy (Roger) Miller of Uneeda, London Gibson of Gilbert, DeeDee (Robert) Seagraves of Savannah, GA. Nephew Joey Boothe of Erie, Pennsylvania. Great nieces Chilo Miller, Courtney Seagraves, great nephews Christopher Booth, Brandon Booth, and Cody Miller. Lifelong friend of fifty-two years Betty Green and a very special family friend James Nelson and the most special dog Gracie Lou and a host of other great nieces nephews and other family members.

 

Services will be Saturday, February 4th at Handley Funeral Home, Danville at 2pm. Visitation for family and friends will be from 1-2pm.
