Robert Lee Adkins, 73, of Sias, West Virginia went home to be with the Lord on October 18, 2021.
He was born on July 12, 1948, in Braeholm, West Virginia to Donna Jean McClain Adkins and the late Donald (Don) Roscoe Adkins.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis Ann Adkins of fifty years and his two daughters, Jeanette (Michael) Watson and Kristie (Clint) Shelton. He loved his four grandchildren, Breanna, Kelsey, Sean, and Jeremiah. He is also survived by his five siblings, Judy (Johnny) Elkins, Leroy (Verna) Adkins, Louise Elkins, Greg (Tena) Adkins, and Janet (Clayton) Rakes. He had a host of other friends and family that he cared for as well.
Robert graduated Hamlin High School in 1966. He fought in the Vietnam War as part of the United States Army. Afterwards, he became a coal miner, farmer, and carpenter. He loved to hunt and especially go fishing with his dad. He was a member and trustee of Bethel Baptist Church. He loved and served the Lord for over fifty years. He enjoyed helping his mom and others, and he looked forward to spending time with his wife, children, and his grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time with his veteran friends at the Huntington Vet Center. He will truly be missed by everyone.
Funeral Services will be at Handley Funeral Home in Hamlin, West Virginia at 1:00 pm on Friday October 22, 2021, with Preachers Terry Sponaugle and Todd Pauley officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior at 12:00 pm. Interment will take place at Goldsbury Cemetery in Sias, West Virginia.
