Robert (Rob) Lee Bell, Jr., 50, of Huntington passed away in Roanoke, VA, on Saturday, February 27, 2016.
Rob was born in Boone County, WV on January 19, 1966, a son of the late Robert (Bobby) Lee Bell, Sr., and the late Mary Anne Moore Bell. He attended schools in Madison graduating from Scott High School in 1984. He joined the United States Army where he served proudly from 1984 to 1988 as a sergeant with a two-year tour in Germany. Rob earned an associate degree in electronics engineering from West Virginia State College and later completed a five-year apprenticeship with the IBEW Local #317 in Huntington where he worked as a master electrician.
Rob is survived by his wife of 19 years, Sarah Gensler Bell, and three children Robert (Trey) Lee Bell, III, Katherine Grace Elizabeth (Katie) Bell, and Abigail Faith Rebekah (Abby) Bell, all at home. Other survivors include his brother Mark Bell along with his wife Lisa and children Elizabeth and Isaac of Chapin, SC, his brother Scott Bell and sister Shawnda Bell. His extended family includes the Gensler clan of Huntington and Charleston, Covington, KY, and Brooklyn, NY. Rob was happiest hitting balls on the golf course, skiing down a mountain slope, or fly fishing a river. He loved driving his family on vacations where he would reminisce about his childhood travels with his parents or his Army days. He will be remembered for his “hardy” laughter, his “Boone County-isms”, his special talent for finding “Molly Moochers” in the woods, his willingness to help others in emergency situations, and his love for family – especially his three children.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016, beginning at 1 PM and the funeral service following at 2 PM at the Handley Funeral Home, 439 Phipps Ave, Danville, WV, with the Rev. Kevin L. Mackey of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Huntington, WV officiating. A private family graveside military service will be on Monday, March 7 at the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar, WV.
