Robert "Bob" Fleetwood Byus
July 14, 1928 — April 1, 2017
Robert "Bob" Fleetwood Byus, 88, went to his heavenly home on April 1, 2017. He was a lifelong resident of Madison, WV. He passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family at Hubbard Hospice House, West. He was the son of the late Albert and Audrey Byus; born in Madison, WV on July 14, 1928. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Albert “Juke”
Byus, Jr.
Bob was a Korean War Veteran, retired as Cooperative Director at the Boone
County Career Center. After retirement, he was City Recorder for the City of
Madison for several years. A lifelong member of Madison Baptist Church, where
he has served as a Deacon and on various other committees. He was active during his kid’s youth with Madison Little League and Madison Buddy League.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Judy Cooke Byus; his son, Michael
(Tammy) Byus of Mount Holly, NC; daughter, Susan (Mickey) Thompson of Madison, WV; and son, John (Shannon) Byus of Olathe, KS. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kris (Stacy) Byus of Denver, NC, Carley Byus of Olathe, KS, Tyler and Tahnee Thompson of Madison, WV, and Savannah Byus of Mount Holly, NC.; his great-grandchildren, Kenadee, Grayson, and Barron Byus of Denver, NC; nephews, Steve (Kathy) Byus, and Jim (Donna) Byus, of Madison, WV; and nieces, Kitty (Artie) Barker, of Madison, WV and Kim Dickenson of Grand Junction, CO, and their families.
Visitation will be at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV, Wednesday, April 5th,
from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. His celebration of life will be on Thursday, April
6th at 11:00 am at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Rev. Jim Butcher Officiating. Burial will follow at Boone Memorial Park, Madison.
The family would like to thank Meadowbrook Assisted Living for the love
and care they showed Bob during his short stay there.
