The family of Robert R. Green, 66, of Greenwood announces his passing to go and be with the Lord on May 14, 2014 after a long illness.

Preceding him in death was his father, Vernon Green; mother, Alberta Green; sister, Lavonia “Kay” Dempsy; and nephew, James Brooks.

Surviving family members is his son, Cameron Craft of James Creek; partner in life, Donna of Greenwood; step-daughters, Diana Williams of Gordon and Judie “Dee Dee” Sosebee of Charleston; siblings, Roger Green of Greenwood and Linda Dunlap of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Derek, Heather, Erica and Beth; five great-grandchildren, Joey, Jaylen, Jayden, Cash and Josie; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Robert will be missed by those who knew him. He had very strong beliefs in the Lord and “didn’t like nothing better than some good preachin’ and some good ol’ bluegrass music.” Robert was a hard worker as well as a local coal miner and retired member of UMWA, Local 781 District 17 of 35 years. Robert loved working in the mines and spending time with this fellow co-workers and also cherished spending time with his family.

The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2014 at Greenwood Church of God with Don Elam and David Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in Workman Cemetery, Bald Knob.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church on Sunday.
