Robert Dall Holstein, 80, of Cross Lanes, WV went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Thomas Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and loved ones.
Bob was born December 7, 1937 in Lick Creek, a son of the late Fred and Juanita (Lamp) Holstein. He was also preceded in death by daughter, Kelli Holstein Watts of Huntington, WV; brothers, Larry, Dale, Eddie and David Holstein all of Danville, WV; and sisters-in-law, Sandra Holstein and Peggy Soler.
He is survived by his loving partner, Joyce Perry of Cross Lanes, WV; daughter, Stacy Detamore (Chris Simon) of Proctorville, OH; son, Jason Holstein of Sanibel Island, Florida; stepson, Randy (Shelly) Larabee of Cross Lanes, WV; stepdaughter, Tamara Larabee of Cross Lanes; son-in-law, Chuck Watts of Huntington, WV; grandchildren, Dave Watts (Julia) of Huntington, WV, Lexi and Payton Detamore of Proctorville, OH; step grandchildren, Shayn Davis of Dunbar, WV, Ritchie and Telsa Larabee of Cross Lanes, WV; two step great grandchildren Randy Larabee III and George Larabee of Cross Lanes; brother, Danny Holstein of Danville, WV; sisters, Carolyn Miller of Cary, NC, Patsy Cole (Larry) of Wilmington, OH, Judy Kelley (Jack) of Holiday Island, AR and Glenna Stewart (Jim) of Danville, WV; sisters-in-law, Paula Webb of Madison, WV and Diane Holstein of Danville, WV; and numerous aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a 1957 graduate of Scott High School where he played varsity baseball for three years. He proudly served his country in the Army. He retired from True Temper as a foreman. After retirement he worked at Erwin Reality as a maintenance man. Bobby loved being outdoors and hunting with his father and brothers and later with his son. He had a passion for fishing that he passed on to his daughters. He also enjoyed being in the woods molly mooching or looking for ginseng. He loved his family time above all and was active in various clubs. He played for Danville Senators and Madison Independent Baseball Leagues from 1959 to 1967. He also played WV ASA Softball throughout the 70 and 80’s and won State Champs with 5 Corners. He loved his Cincinnati Reds and WVU Mountaineers.
Service will be 11 am. Monday, March 5 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. John Barker officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison with military graveside rites performed by Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578 of Madison, West Virginia.
