ROBERT HENRY LILLY, 77, of Hamlin, WV, left our presence February 8, 2018, at St. Mary’s Hospital. Henry, (aka “Old Dude”), was born in Red Star - Nicolas County, WV on October 15, 1940, was loved by many and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Yetta (White) Lilly, and his grandchild, Chandler Reed.
He is survived by the following: (wife) Tahna Lilly, (son) Wayne Lilly (wife Debbie), their children Joshua Ellis, Courtney Lilly (her daughter Aubrey Ray and boyfriend Jason Murphy), Tiffany Reed (her husband Brent Reed and children Kaylen, Ayden, & Adyson), (daughter) Brooke Lilly (her boyfriend Jeremy Adkins), their children Tehyen Lilly and Abigail Adkins, (daughter) Cassie Reed (husband Robert), their children Landon and Nevaya Reed, (sister) Nina Omley (husband Tom), (brother) Eddie Lilly (wife Phyllis), (brother) James Lilly (wife Brenda), (brother) Donald Lilly (wife Debbie) and many other extended family members.
Henry served the State of West Virginia with the Department of Highways as a supervisor (Buckhannon) for 28 years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his son and his wife (Wayne and Debbie) and many friends throughout the state and loved his “card table” on Sundays. From feeding the deer in his back yard to competing with the entire town at Christmas to see just how bright he could light his home up for all to see brought so much joy to his heart and so many more! You might just catch him every morning with his daily coffee and chocolate chip muffin from one of his many hangouts of Tudor’s or 7-11. Whether you knew him or not, he was the kind of man who would give you his last dime and buy you a “scratch off.” He was a volunteer at the Indian Valley swimming pool and devoted much of his time always wanting everything to look just right.
There was no greater treasure to Henry than family!
The family would like to thank the nurses at St. Mary’s Oncology Department (6th Floor) for their loving care of Henry in his final hours while there. Nurse Cathy specifically, you were our angel and we love you. Keep serving and taking care of those patients like you did our Henry!
Visitation will be from 5-7 at Handley Funeral Home in Hamlin, WV with a Memorial Service at 7:00 pm. Pastor Debbie Lilly will be officiating.
