Robert Chapman Sands

Robert Chapman Sands “Bobby”, 79, of Foster passed away May 7, 2015 after a long illness.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Sands of Julian and his father, John Sands of Julian; brothers, James, Ronald and Billy Sands of Danville; sister, Earnestine Harmon; and granddaughter, Jessica “Sunshine” Neilon.
He served in the Airforce from 1954 to 1962. He was a member of the UMWA and enjoyed working on classic cars and wheeling and dealing.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandra Sands of Foster; sister, Patty Arnold of NY; daughters, Loretta Sands of Foster and fiancé Brandon Mangus, JoAnna Difranco of NY and husband Rick, Tina Sands of NY, and Dianna Neilon of NY and husband Robert; sons, Robert Sands Jr. of Julian and wife Katie, John Sands of Georgia and wife Karen and Eddie Sands of NY and wife Christina; ten grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Service will be 5 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2015 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Richard Runyan officiating. Burial will follow in Family Gardens, Madison with military graveside rites performed by Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578 Madison, WV.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
