Roger S. Ellis Sr., 68, of Hewett departed this life Monday, April 10, 2017 at Logan Regional Medical Center to be with his personal Lord and Savior.
Roger was born October 14, 1948 in Madison, WV to the late Remus and Virginia (Ferrell) Ellis. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his late wife Lillian (Philips) Ellis; and his brother Remus (Skippy) Ellis Jr.
Those left to cherish his memories is his wife, Joy (Mullins) Ellis; brothers, Jimmie (Eva) Ellis and Oris Ray (Leah) Bias; his children, Roger S. Ellis Jr., Renee (David) Long, April (Kevin) Chambers, Marla Deskins and Laura (Shaun) Adams; grandchildren, Britneigh (Marcus) McCoy, Brandon Ellis, Chilio Ellis, Gage Chambers, Blake Chambers, Danielle (James) Belcher and Bralen Adams; great-grandchildren, Zoe McCoy, Nick McCoy and Lily Rose Belcher; two nieces, Natalie (Ryan) Browning and Kelly (John) Johnson; special cousin Anna Jean Fisher that he loved like a sister; and a host of family and friends that loved him dearly.
He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for Hobet until retirement and was a member of the UMWA.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 14 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Pastor Roger McCauley and Pastor Michael Hartwell officiating. Burial will follow in Ferrell Cemetery, Hewett. Family and friends will be pallbearers.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
