Roger C. Maynard

Roger C. Maynard, 66, of Salt Rock, WV passed away Friday, January 17, 2014 in Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born June 16, 1947 in Delbarton, WV. He was preceded in death by a son, Roger Clinton Maynard Jr. "Bucky" and a niece Jessica Cole. Roger was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, where he received a bronze star medal and a purple heart medal. He was retired from the Army Corps of Engineers and a public accountant.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Maynard; parents, Mabel and Shirl Maynard; one sister, Jeanie Cole (Garry) of Logan; two daughters, Christine Maynard of Columbus, OH and Jennifer Maynard Browning(Brent) of Hamlin, WV; one step-daughter, Carla Vance Hesseltine of Virginia Beach, VA; two step-sons Paul B. Isaacs of Branchland, WV and Rusty Vance(Kris) of Franklin Furnace, OH; three grandchildren, Austin Cooper, Brandi Isaacs and Shelby Browning; four nephews, Garry Lee Cole, Samuel Gabbert Jr., Jason Davidson and Justin Davidson. He was a devoted husband, son, father, grandfather and friend.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Monday, January 20, 2014 at Handley Funeral Home, Hamlin, WV with Pastor Pete Davidson officiating. The burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, WV where a military graveside service will be conducted by American Legion Post 111, Hamlin, WV. A viewing will be Sunday from 6pm to 8pm. The family would like to thank his neighbors for all their support. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Huntington City Mission.
