Roma Brown

Roma Brown, 76, of Wharton, WV went home to be with our loving Savior on February 9, 2017 at his home after a short illness.
Roma was born on April 20, 1940 to the late Mathers and Martha Brown of Cyclone, WV. He was a member of the UMWA and worked as a load out operator at the Harris #1 Prep Plant. He had a love for rebuilding weed eaters/lawn mowers, he loved working in his garden, an avid fisherman and loved his Kentucky Wildcats Basketball Team. He loved his family with all his heart and made it a point to show them everyday how much they meant to him. His greatest love was serving our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a dutiful servant to Him till his last breath. He was a member of the Wharton Missionary Baptist Church where he served as song leader and other committees.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 51 years, Emma Jean; one son, Timmy Brown of Madison; three daughters, Lisa Brown of Wharton, Libby Brown of Barrett, Sarah (Ken) Teague of Knoxville, TN; five granddaughters, Amanda (Joe) Podunavac who are currently serving our country in South Korea, Danielle (David) Moore of Wharton, Natalie (Jared) White of Bim, Gabby Teague of Knoxville, TN and Beth Teague of Knoxville, TN; six great-grandchildren, Easton, Kami, Emalyn, Owen, Waylon and Aiden; his brother, Lucian (Vicky) Brown; sister, Joyce (Carlos) Webb of Cyclone, WV; his best friends, Gail Johner and Dewayne Green; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mathers and Martha Brown; brothers, Earnest, Ronnie, Leslie, Lonnie, Lawrence and Lanta; sisters, Irene, Imogene and Gaye; father-in-law, Alfred Harvey; and daughter Tammy Gieras.
Viewing for family and friends will be Sunday, February 12, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Wharton Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the church with beloved friend and Pastor Gary Hunt, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Harvey/Toler Cemetery at Farley Branch.
Serving pall bearers: Ken Teague, Jared White, David Moore, Joe Podunavac, Todd Harvey and Travis Harvey.
The family would like to thank Dr. Courtney Adkins, Kelli Canterbury, staff of Boone Memorial Hospital, Dr. James Stollings and Dignity Hospice for their care and compassion.
