Ronald Gene Hill, 81, of Pickerington, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 2nd, 2024 surrounded by loved ones, after a difficult battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Ronald (or Ron, or Sarge, as many people addressed him) was born on February 18th, 1942 to Eustace and Thelma (Blanche) Hill in rural Alkol, West Virginia. After Ronald graduated from Hamlin High School in 1961, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps. He served six years and left as E5-Sergeant. After his service to our country, he worked for over 35 years for American Electric Power (formally Appalachian Power). Ronald was very passionate about his service to his country, and working as an electrician. Ronald pursued this vocation in 1967 and he loved what he did for a living. With this deep affection, he continued contract work for another ten years after retirement from AEP.
In 1961, as classmates, Ronald began dating Sandra Elaine Nida at the Hamlin High School Valentine Dance. He married Sandra in 1962 and went on to have three children, Kristen, Heather, and Jason.
Ronald fully retired in 2012 after forty-five years working in his field. While retired, Ronald had time to pursue a love of crafts such as wood working, stained glass, and travel.
Ronald was one of a kind. He would give anyone, especially neighbors, friends, and family his shirt(s) from his back. He was dedicated, proud, spiritual, and loved by many.
Ronald was preceded in death by his daughter Heather Hill, his mother and father, Blanch and Eustace Hill, brother Rodney Hill, and sister Linda Monk.
He is survived by wife Sandra Hill, daughter Kristen Burch (husband David); son Jason Hill (partner Cameron Underdown); 2 grandchildren Tyler (Torrie) Burch, and Darby (Keanan) Locke; 3 great grandchildren Bailey Burch, Addy Burch and Luca Locke; brother Gary Hill (wife Sharon); and sisters Sandra Runyon, and Brenda Hill.
Services will be held at Lincoln Memorial Park, 8225 Court Ave, Hamlin, WV on February 7, 2024 at 2:00PM with David Burch officiating.
