Ronnie Allen Mooney

Ronnie Allen Mooney (Moonpie) of Seth, born on July 6, 1958 gained his heavenly wings on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. To know Ronnie was to love him! He never met a stranger, only people he hadn’t became friends with yet.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his father, Hank Mooney and father-in-law, Larry Asbury.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Vickie Mooney of Seth, daughter Summer Burford of Seth, son Justin (Felicia) Mooney of Hurricane and seven grandchildren which he adored, Ian Pack, Jason Burford, Kaiden Donley, Samantha Burford, Colten Mooney, Hunter Burford, and Brody Mooney.

Ronnie is also survived by his mother, Foncie Mooney of Racine, mother-in- law Mary Ann Asbury of Sylvester, brother Randy (Sue) Mooney of Dunmore, sisters Nancy (Steve) Smith of Peytona and Joyce (Paul) Tuemler of Teays Valley, brother-in-law Mark Norris and a host of other family and friends.

Ronnie was a 1975 graduate of Sherman High School and most recently worked as a maintenance planner at Patriot Coal. In his younger years, he boxed for the Golden Gloves and loved to play sports.   He was revered as a great shortstop and competitor on the softball field and made as many memories as he did friends. He also loved to golf and fish, but his favorite hobby was rooting for his beloved Cleveland Browns alongside his fantasy football team.

The measure of a man is by his unconditional love for his family and loved ones. In his marriage to his loving wife of 47 years, in his love for his parents, children, siblings and especially grandchildren, or the countless other family and friends he held dear to him, he continued to show us this virtue.

At Ronnie’s request, a graveside service will be on Friday, January 5^th at 2:00 PM at Barker Cemetery in Ashford, WV. All friends and family are welcome.
