Rosa “Susie” Ball Gibson, 86, of Danville WV died Wednesday, January 7, 2015.
She was born June 29, 1928 and was a daughter of the late Bert and Beulah Ball of Hewett, WV.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; sisters, Mary Ruth Shanklin and Ida Mae Smith; and brothers, Sammie Lee Ball and Gary Dean Ball.
She is survived by daughters, Pam (Keith) Edmonds of Milton, WV and Denise (Richard) Miller of Foster, WV; granddaughters, Nicole Hudson of New Castle, VA and Nancy Marable of Chesapeake, VA; two great-granddaughters, Kayla Hudson of New Castle, VA and Bailey Reed of Chesapeake, VA; step-granddaughter, Addison Marable of Chesapeake, VA; great-grandson, Cooper Marable of Chesapeake, VA; sisters, Janice Noble and Peggy Robinson of Ohio and Brenda Schnell of California; brother, Larry Ball of Hewett, WV; along with nieces and nephews who loved their “Aunt Susie”.
Susie was a Christian and last attended Lick Creek Community Church. She worked many occupations over the years and after retirement enjoyed volunteering at Boone Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hillcrest Nursing Center (formerly Boone Nursing Home) for the love and caring they extended to her over the years. They would also like to thank her nephew Roy Shanklin and her great-niece Samantha Price for the care, compassion and attention they provided while she was a resident of both Heritage Nursing Center in Huntington and Hillcrest Nursing Center. Time spent with Susie will be missed.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Park, Danville.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
