Roston Woodrow "Woodie" Hunter

April 25, 1932 — April 14, 2016

Roston Woodrow “Woodie” Hunter, 83, of Upper Mud River, Hamlin, WV passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Emogene Dolin Hospice House, Logan, WV. He was born April 25, 1932 and was a son of the late Opie and Belva Sutphin Hunter. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane; and one son, Samuel Hunter.

He was a retired coal miner and President of UMWA Local. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by children, Chester Hunter of Hamlin, Rebecca Bias of Uneeda and Woodie Hunter, II of Foster; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 18 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison with military graveside rites performed by Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578 Madison, WV.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
