Roy Dolin

September 9, 1918 — May 5, 2014

“Let the Angels Sing” and the celebrations begin as Roy enters the Gate of Heaven to meet his Lord and members of his family and friends . . . Roy Dolin, 95, of Foster, WV went to be with the Lord on May 5, 2014 at the Hubbard "Hospice" House, South Charleston, WV.

Roy was born September 9, 1918 to the late Noah and Alice Halstead Dolin at Foster, WV. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Essie “Marie” Williams Dolin; daughters, Brenda Barker and Patricia Dolin; great-grandson, Travis Ray Cook; brothers, Earnest, Grady, Forrest, Woodrow and Frank; and sisters, Dalla Williams, Maddie Kessler and Cozetta Mays.

Roy was a Christian and an Elder at the Church of Christ at Foster. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and gardening. He worked as a coal miner for 45 years.

He is survived by brothers, Lawrence and Vernon Dolin; and daughters, Pamela Cook and Sandra Cornett; grandsons, Roy Dolin, Randle Dolin, Richard Dolin, Rodney Cornett and Charles Cook; granddaughter, Tifinie Marie Cook Mullins; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Roy was the oldest living member of the Odd Fellows, District #170 of Madison and was loved by the entire organization. He was awarded The Odd Fellow of the Year in 2011 and 2013.

Services will be 4 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison.

The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Thanks to all those who made visits, sent cards, sent flowers and made phone calls on his behalf.
