Royena Mae White

August 26, 1945 — June 7, 2013

Royena Mae White, age 67, of Twilight WV went to her Heavenly Home on June 7, 2013, after a short stay with Hubbard Hospice House at Thomas Hospital. She is survived by her Husband of 47 years Shirley White. She had one Daughter Julie Ann (White) Coleman and Husband Daryl Coleman Jr. of Nitro and one Son James Anderson White (Jimbo) with Partner Jamie Happney of Saint Albans.
Royena had one Granddaughter Vivian Rose Coleman and two Foster Grandsons that resides with James and Jamie. She leaves behind Two sisters of Twilight Darlene (Gunnoe) Dangerfield and Kathy Workman and Brother in Law Michael Workman Sr. Her Sisters in Law include Pearl Casto of Clinton Camp WV, Myrl (White) Carpenter (husband Charles) of Bim WV, Macil Sheets (husband Udell) and Brother in Law Calvin Glen White (wife Gail) of Bandytown.
Royena had one loving Uncle and Aunt she attended Bandytown Church of Christ with, Arvil and Helen Richmond of Twilight. She had planned on visiting her Aunt Charlotte “Sharbie” Richmond in Tennessee in the fall. She will be leaving behind many Cousins she grew up with including Donna Mitchell and Ronnie of Charleston, Linda (Mitchell) Bragg, and Junior White of Gordon, and Richard and Loretta White of Twilight. Other Cousins include David Richmond of Kentucky, Rhonda Justice, Angie Alexander of Twilight and Jimmy Richmond (wife Peggy) of Tennessee. She also had many close friends she grew up with including Debbie Dunlap (husband Timmy) of Gordon.
Royena had three nieces on her side of the family, Amy (Workman) Wilson, (Husband Ollie), Sabrina (Workman) Elswick, (Husband Sam), and Tammy (Gunnoe) Baire of Twilight; and One living nephew Danny Lee Gunnoe Jr (Partner Jeff Hitt).
Nieces on her Husband’s side include Martha (Casto) Sherlin, Sarah Casto, Ellen (White) Hall and Kim Hornsby, Michele (White) Rock of Beaver, and Renee Carpenter of Bim. Nephews on her Husband’s side include David Casto, Kirby White, Calvin and Kevin Sheets, and Anthony Carpenter of Bim.
Royena will be missed by her Mother in Law Augusta (Gusty) White of Bim, and her Husband’s Aunts including Arbutus Workman and Esta Jarrell of Madison. And many other Church Friends and family she had made through the years.
Royena is preceded in Death by parents Herbert and Margaret White, and Father in Law Sola White, along with her late nephew Michael “Mikie” Workman Jr.
Many people will miss her, unnamed cousins and friends of the Community, the list could go on. We all will have some good laugh or memory that pops in our head when we think of Royena, either from Church or something in the Community. Most people loved her cooking and she was known for her Pineapple Upside Down cakes and Stack Cakes, along with her Stuffed Peppers.
The Family would like to thank everyone for the help including Hubbard House at Thomas Hospital, although the stay was short, they were very caring for Royena.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 11th at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Timmy Bailey and Mike Green officiating. Burial will follow in Hatfield Cemetery, Barrett.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
