Rubie Mae Halstead, 75, of Arlington, TX passed away on March 28, 2014.
She was a long time member of the Peytona Church of Christ in Peytona, WV prior to her move to Texas. Her greatest joys were cooking, gardening, sewing, reading, canning and taking care of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Carrie McKinney; husbands Benjamin Halstead and Brook Kirk; sister Pauline Buzzard; and brothers Howard and Cecil McKinney.
She is survived by her son, Howard Kirk; daughter and her spouse, Angela and Kelly Nowell; grandchildren, Tony and Luke Kirk and Katherine and Gavin Nowell; sister, Hazel Lincoln; nieces and their spouses, Lorraine and Larry DeLeon, Susan and Stephen Dempsey, Rhonda and Roger O’Daniels, Tarah and Tony Jones, Sherri and Sonny Davis, Donna and Frank Dearien, Barbara Palmer, Linda and Doug Harris and Teresa and Terry Newsome; nephews and their spouses, David and Linda Buzzard, Eric Stringer, Eddie and Ellen McKinney and Eugene and Diana McKinney; as well as many beloved great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV with Richard Runyan officiating. Burial will follow in Halstead Cemetery, Peytona, WV.
Viewing will begin one hour prior to the service.
